Lord, help me to obey you in all things, always. This should be the utmost desire and pursuit of any Christian that wants to be great.
God desires and requires our total obedience more than our prayers, our tithe or offering, our worship, our good deeds or anything we could think of.
“…What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.” – 1 Samuel 15:22-23.
Note this: If you’re not interested in obeying God in any areas of your life, praying to him in that area is a complete waste of time.
Some of us even do partial obedience. For instance, one may obey God in the area of attending fellowship regularly, but may still be disobeying God in the area of finance. Such a person will truly enjoy the blessings attached to fellowship but may still keep struggling financially, etc. Partial obedience or total disobedience is why many Christians still struggles in one area or the other.
You want to enjoy God in your marriage? Obey his instructions concerning marriage. You don’t want to struggle career wise, business wise or in ministry? Follow the path he’s chosen for you. You want to enjoy financial rest? Listen and do whatever he tells you. You don’t want to waste time, energy and resources anymore? Listen and follow his counsel.
I pray that you and I will keep following and obeying God totally for the rest of our lives.
