Doing good doesn’t mean everyone will appreciate you for it. In fact, the reason why some persons will oppose you is because of your goodness. However, you must never allow this to stop you from doing good. Because knowing to good good and not doing it is a sin (James 4:17).
In Luke 8:26-37, Jesus healed a mad man whom the people of that city had failed to even hold with chain. One would think that the people would be happy for this amazing Miracle. Instead, when they saw the man that was healed, they asked Jesus to live their city.
But in John 4:5-42 was another story of a Samaritan woman whom Jesus didn’t even perform any miracle for. He only told the woman things she didn’t think Jesus knew. When the woman told the city people about this, they all came to hear Him for themselves and further begged Jesus to stay with them for more days.
The people whom Jesus performed Miracle for asked him to go, but the people he didn’t perform miracle for asked him to stay. Even though the people that asked him to go in the first place later accepted him when he went back to that city at other time, yet it’s in record that they rejected him first. However, this didn’t stop Jesus from doing good.
James 4:17 NKJV
[17] Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Whether some persons appreciates the good you do to them now or later or never, don’t let that stop you from being good and from doing good. Let God be your reward and He will reward you abundantly for your goodness.
