KEEP ON PRAYING UNTIL YOU RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM GOD

In the natural world, just as communication is not complete until there’s a response or a feedback from the second party, so also it is in the spiritual world. You need to pray through until you get a response from God concerning your prayers.

In Mark 11:24 Jesus says “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them“.

Here, Jesus says we should first believe that we have received our answers before we actually have that answer. But the reason why most times we find it difficult to first believe is because we’ve not received a response from God. Response from God is like a receipt received for a payment made for goods. Even when the goods are yet to be delivered to you the receipt serve a proof that your order and payment have been received. So that put your mind at rest that your goods will soon arrive. Also in the natural, when a child ask his father say, for something, such child will continue to disturb the father until he/she hears a response from the father. All the child just need is a word from the father so that he/she can have something to hold on to. Whether the father declined, accept or even promise few days or few months to fulfil this child’s request is another thing. But once the child get hold of his father’s word, that put his/her mind at rest that the request has been heard.

So also, response from God shows our request has been heard. This can come through different channels but it MUST carry at least one of the following signs;

  1. Inner peace: response from God will bring peace within your spirit. The circumstances around you may still look terrible but you won’t be able to deny the peace within you. This peace makes you so confident that your prayers are answered. It may be unexplainable but also undeniable. Anytime you have this, then that’s a response from God that your prayers have been answered. Psalms 85:8 says “I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly”.
  2. Inner peace and a word from God*: This response from God goes a step further by bringing you a word. That word may either bring you comfort, or a revelation, or a rebuke, or an instruction but when it comes you will know if you’re sensitive and it won’t contradict the scripture or the spirit of God. For instance;
  • In Rom 4:17-22, the bible says Abram didn’t staggered at God’s promise through unbelief but was strong in faith that God would give him a child as promised. But what gave Abram that belief in God was because he has a word from God that He would give him a child of His own (Gen 15:4-5). It was after this word from God that Abram started believing God concerning his own child (Gen 15:6). Prior to this time, Abram too wasn’t sure (Gen 15:2-3) so he could not believe.
  • When Apostle Paul too was faced with personal challenges, he prayed to God. He probably didn’t receive response from God when he prayed the first and the second time. But on the third time he received a response from God and that settles everything (2Cor 12:8-10).

Therefore, whenever you’re asking anything from God, don’t just assume your prayers are answered. Pray until you receive a response from God and that it’s a response that either bring inner peace or inner peace and a word from God. If you can always pray to this point, your believe and trust in God will grow and you will always have what you pray for.
