I’ve seen many persons complain when they see or hear of unpleasant things happen in churches. In their own evaluation, they expect the church to be a perfect place. Well, am glad to tell you that you can’t find a perfect church on earth till Jesus return. In fact, any church that claims to be perfect is not of God, run away from them.
I thank God I learned this truth early in my Christian journey and it has helped me never to expect a perfect church. In fact, the bigger the size of a church, the more evil people will be attracted to her and the more you’re likely to hear of all kinds of atrocities happen in that church, not because Christianity or Christ is evil but because of the presence of evil men who pretend to be followers of Christ. Our Lord Jesus Christ, the head and owner of the church except this to happen (Mathew 13:41-43) and so He called people like that wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Matthew 7:15–16 NLT says
“Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
If Jesus expected it, why then should you bother yourself or complain about it? If some persons’ bad behavior is making you to get angry at Christ or the church, it is a sign that you are either not born again yourself or you are ignorant of God’s word. So, don’t be alarmed or bothered when you see some Christians misbehave, it’s a sign that such person or people are not of God.
Don’t get me wrong, making a mistake is different. A true Christian can make a mistake or fall. But such will quickly make things right with God and get back into fellowship with Him (Proverbs 24:16). But anyone who consistently does evil without being moved is not a true believer (1 John 3:9).
Again, because no church is perfect doesn’t mean you should walk head-on into some evil cult who claimed to be a church. You need to be wise and ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. If it is a church of Christ, good will be more than evil there and you will know them by their fruits. But if evil is more than good there, that church is not of Christ and you should stay away from them.
In conclusion, instead of complaining, pray for the body of Christ and especially for yourself that you may remain standing till the end.
