One of the obstacles to growth and development to either a person or a nation is chaos and unrest. Whilst some troubles or challenges are necessary for our growth, most are unnecessary and hinder our growth and should therefore be prayed against or avoided if we can.
Why should you ask God for peace? Because even if you do all you can within your own power to pursue peace, some persons whether intentionally or ignorantly will still come your way with troubles. And since you will always interface with human, the chances of avoiding trouble and issues altogether in every encounter is practically impossible. BUT WHEN YOU ALWAYS ASK GOD FOR PEACE, YOU SUBSCRIBE TO THE POWERS GREATER THAN YOU TO HELP YOU PREVENT OR MANAGE NEEDLESS TROUBLES.
In Numbers 6:26, one of the prayer that God instructed Aaron, through Moses, to always pray for the Israelites is the prayer of Peace. In Psalms 122:6, the Israelites were admonished to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and to also pray and work for the peace of the nation wherever God sent them BECAUSE THEIR ENVIRONMENT WELFARE DETERMINES THEIR PERSONAL WELFARE (Jeremiah 29:7).
Imagine the progress you would make if your life, your home and marriage, your work and career, your community and country, and your heart is at peace. So, while you work at pursuing peace, also ask God for peace of mind in your career, in your home and marriage, in your neighborhood, over your children, in the country of your residence and over all that concerns you and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding shall fill your life and hearts in Jesus name, amen!
