God want us to be fruitful physically, mentally and most especially spiritually. But for that to happen, we must watch out for thorns that drains the soul so that we don’t fall a victim. Our Lord Jesus Christ reveals two thorns that drains the soul and they are worries of this life and the love for money.
Matthew 13:7, 22 GNT
[7] Some of the seed fell among thorn bushes, which grew up and choked the plants. [13] The seeds that fell among thorn bushes stand for those who hear the message; but the WORRIES ABOUT THIS LIFE and the LOVE FOR RICHES choke the message, and they don’t bear fruit.
Temptation to worry will come, especially if you fix your eyes on the final economic turbulence riding the world right now, but don’t let that worry you. The turbulence is a phase that will surely end. But you have to make sure you’re still standing when it ends. So, refuse to compromise.
Also, thought to pursue money at the expense of your soul will come, but you must refuse it. Even though you need to make money, you also need to live. In other words, your need to live is much more important than your need for money. Because if you loose your life in Christ now, when the money comes you won’t enjoy it. But if you keep your life at all cost, you will enjoy the money when it comes.
So, watch out for these things that drains the soul and prevent fruitfulness. May you and I experience all round fruitfulness this year in Jesus name.
