Because the spiritual realm is not a realm we’re naturally used to, then training to acquaint ourselves with that realm become a necessity. Just as we received Academic and technical training, spiritual training is also compulsory if we want to make the most of it. Imagine how many years we spend in school, training for a profession. If Academic qualification that only benefits us on this earth requires so much time, then spiritual training that offers eternal benefits should be given more attention.
1 Timothy 4:8 NLT says
“Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”
Spiritual journey will benefits you now and in life to come. God didn’t just call us to make heaven alone, He wants us to be earthly relevance as well. But without spiritual training, some of the thing available for us in the spirit may not manifest. However, that training require dedication, consistency, tenacity, endurance, and discipline.
Examples of spiritual training is to have your own time of fasting, praying and studying. You’re not waiting until you’re in trouble or until you’re told to do so. But note that as you make up your mind to do these, sometimes you won’t feel like it and sometimes circumstances may want to hinder you from following that schedule. But with dedication you will discard the feeling and find a way around the circumstances.
Spiritual training will mark a great turning point in your life; it will promote you from babyhood to maturity in Christ; the more you grow, the more of Christ you enjoy (2 Peter 1:3; Galatians 4:1-2). God won’t force any of us to grow, but without doubt, spiritual growth is a fundamental requirement to enjoy all that God has for us (Acts 20:32). And spiritual training is a way to grow.
Spiritual training is not easy, but we all have to commit ourselves to it. So, make up your mind today to dedicate yourself to perpetual spiritual training regardless of feeling and circumstances.
