Feeling distressed? Pray!

Life is tough. Sometimes despite all our efforts, it just appears as though those efforts are not showing. The struggles to rise and become somebody in life, the pressure of the bills to pay, the expectations to meet and so on could cause distress if not carefully managed. Even our Lord Jesus Christ experienced distress, not for Himself but for us. He was distressed because of the pain and agony He was about to go through for humanity.

Mark 14:3334 NKJV says

[33] And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed. [34] Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”

Distress is an emotional or physical reactions to the pressure and demands of life. You may not be able to stop some demands from coming. But there are ways to handle them when they come so they don’t overwhelm you. And one of the ways is to pray. When Jesus was distressed, He prayed (Mark 14:35), and the same He recommended for His disciples (Mark 14:38; James 5:13).

When feeling distressed and overwhelmed about the issues of life, the bills to pay, the debts to settle, and the demands to meet and it’s about hitting on you, then find time to pray. Prayer brings comfort and a renewed hope; Prayer make us access divine wisdom needed to navigate the route of life (James 1:5-6). Prayer give us strength for the journey when we are weak (Isaiah 40:29-31).

Don’t wait until you take the wrong steps, or until your adversary defeat you, or until distress overwhelm you before you pray. Pray now and pray without ceasing. You will not fail in Jesus name.
