As much as giving is noble and scriptural, yet it must be done with correct knowledge and understanding so that what is meant to be a blessing will not become a burden.
God wants us to give, but He doesn’t want our giving to make life hard for us. For instance, that are some funds you must be absolutely sure God’s wants you to give out before you do. Money for house rent, your children school fees, or money kept in our care etc can bring serious disgrace if not met on time. So, before you use them for charity, be absolutely sure that God is leading you that way.
2 Corinthians 8:13–15 NLT says
Of course, I DON’T MEAN YOUR GIVING SHOULD MAKE LIFE EASY FOR OTHERS AND HARD FOR YOURSELVES. I only mean that there should be some equality. Right now you have plenty and can help those who are in need. Later, they will have plenty and can share with you when you need it. In this way, things will be equal. As the Scriptures say, “Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over, and those who gathered only a little had enough.”
Lack of this balance understanding is why we sometimes land in trouble after giving and then blame God later for not fulfilling His word to bless us in return. Whereas if we had operated with this understanding earlier, we would actually see the reward or giving. Although God’s command to give sometimes may not be convenient. But once you’re sure it’s His voice, go ahead and do it because it means He already have a better provision waiting for you.
