Allowing hatred in your heart against someone hurts you more than the person you hate. Hence, the reason we must never allow hatred to control us.
I John 2:10–11 NKJV
He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
When we walk in love, we avoid anything that will cause us to fall. But hatred brings spiritual blindness and so whoever allows hatred, even with physical eyes opened, will still walk into errors because such is spiritually blind. Hatred causes the heater to make more mistakes than the person whom they hate. How? Because anyone sho walks in darkness is bound to fall and fail.
God wants us to hate evil and sin and wrong doings. But in no way does He wants us to hates fellow human being, whether they’re for us or against us. He still wants us to love them. Loving people does not necessarily mean you have to associate with them if you don’t have to. Yes, you can distance yourself from someone and still not hate them. Sometimes, that’s even the best thing to do to some persons.
No matter your relationship with people, whether you’re close or not, don’t allow hatred in your heart against them no matter what they do. Because if you do, you’re setting up yourself to walking in darkness and that may lead you to a great fall. Be wise!
