How to receive and be led by the Holy Spirit

Yesterday we saw why life is tougher for baby Christians. And that to start enjoying the real benefits of Christianity, we must grow to sonship which is the level where we are led by the Holy Spirit. Today, we look at how to receive and be led by the Holy Spirit.

HOW TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT

To receive the Holy Spirit, you have to Truly and completely surrender your life to Jesus because. This stage is non negotiable because you can’t belong to the camp of Satan and still want to enjoy God’s gift – you can’t serve God and Satan. Make no mistake to think we’re all children of God. Everyone is created by God but not everyone is God’s children. The proof that you’re a child of God is the honor and fear you have for Him (Malachi 1:6). Until Jesus becomes your Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit can’t live in you.

HOW TO BE LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

  1. Ask for the Holy Spirit to lead you: Although the moment you confess and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit automatically comes into your heart as well (Ephesians 1:13-14). And while sometimes He may lead you without even asking Him, most times He will wait for you to ask for His leading (Luke 11:9-13). However, how much you frequently obey His leading will now determines if He will keep leading you automatically or not. And when you ask the Holy Spirit to lead you, sometimes His answer comes immediately and sometimes it doesn’t. So, you must learn to persist in asking until that answer comes (Luke 11:5-13). It was persistence in asking that Jesus was emphasizing on in Luke 11:8. Keep asking for His leading until it comes.
  2. Study God’s word daily: to make it easier for you to pick the leading of the Holy Spirit, you must daily study God’s word. Why? Because every words is confirmed by at least two witnesses (Mathew 18:16). So, God’s word is one witness and the Holy Spirit is another witness. These together is how we know the truth.

If you don’t know God’s word, you may hear your own voice or the voice of the devil and think it’s the voice of the Holy Spirit because there are many voices on earth (1 Corinthians 14:10-11). This is where some persons have missed it.

If you don’t know God’s word, Satan and his agents can infiltrate into your thoughts and imagination and make it look like it is the Holy Spirit speaking to you (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). So, to confirm the voice of the Holy Spirit, we subject it to God’s word.

In conclusion, living under the leadership of the Holy Spirit is an experience you must strive to attain because that is when Christianity begins to make sense and enjoyable. You will not be frustrated!
