One can be a child of God and still fail if divine guidance is not a priority in your life. So, to succeed with God, absolute dependence on Him is not an option but mandatory. And sometimes, God will permit situations to come your way to test how much you depend on Him.
For instance, sometimes when we pray for guidance and direction, God may intentionally delay His response to see our reaction like He did to the Israelites in the wilderness (Deuteronomy 8:2-3). He may choose to delay His response to see if we will go ahead and do what we like or wait until His answers are revealed.
Jesus so much depended on God, that he spent most of his leisure time in prayer because he knew that was where his success lies (Luke 5:16). The question is, where and how do you spend your leisure time? Do you spend it gisting, watching movies, playing video games, watching football, watching Nollywood & Bollywood, or do you spend it praying? If Jesus spent his leisure time playing video games, watching movies, and gisting unnecessarily, will he succeed? Where and how you spend your leisure time is an indication of where your heart it (Mathew 6:21).
Furthermore, even though Jesus was God’s son filled with the Holy spirit, yet he spent all night praying to God because he didn’t want to choose wrongly (Luke 6:12). That was how much he depended on God. Again, how much time do you spend asking the Holy Spirit for direction before taking a step or what will you do when you don’t yet have clarity on His guidance? Do you go ahead and do what you think is right or wait until divine guidance comes?
If you too want to succeed like Jesus Christ, make absolute dependence on God your priority. Going into marriage, or investing in business, or relocating to another place, etc without divine guidance is a risk. If it ends up a wrong step, you will bear the consequences alone. But if you wait on divine guidance, you will always get it right because divine guidance comes with divine protection, divine provision, divine direction and divine insurance. You will not miss it in Jesus name.
