Almost everyone of us will definitely encounter obstacles on our way to the promised land. No matter how great or sweet the plans of God is for our lives, there are obstacles and barriers we will all need to fight in other to get to our promised land.
To the children of Israel, part of the obstacles they needed to fight include the red sea, the Canaanites, the Hittites, Jericho, etc.
WHY WE MUST CONTEND WITH OBSTACLES
In most cases, the land God is taking each one of us is not dormant, it’s already occupied. That new position you aspire; that new job, etc is already taken by someone else. But irrespective of that, God still has the intention of giving them to you, hence, the reason he’s telling you about it.
In Deuteronomy 2:24 NKJV, God says:
Rise, take your journey, and cross over the River Arnon. Look, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. Begin to possess it, and engage him in battle.
As seen from the scripture above, God already gave the land of Arnon to the Israelites, but they NEEDED TO PHYSICALLY ENGAGE IN WARFARE TO LAY HOLD OF IT.
What land or harvest has the Lord promised you? Is your own promised land a glorious marriage? Or financial breakthrough? Or fruits of the womb? Or career breakthrough? Whatever that promised land is, YOU NEED TO IDENTIFY THE OBSTACLES STANDING ON YOUR WAYS AND ENGAGE THEM IN WARFARE; YOU LIKE THE ISRAELITES ALSO NEED TO RISE UP, EMBARK ON ANY NECESSARY JOURNEY AND CROSS ANY OPPOSING RIVERS on your ways, otherwise, that promised land or harvest may only remain a promise, forever!
