God desires our peace, unfortunately, the presence of evil in this world has made that peace to be at a cost. So, whosoever wants to enjoy peace in this world must also prepare for battle.
In this world, you don’t have to look for battle before battle come for you. It can come in form of poverty, or sickness & diseases, or in form of marital challenges. It can also come in form of limitations on your destiny, career, business or as an obstacle against one’s growth and expansion. This is why scripture says we should be alert and watchful.
1 Peter 5:8 NLT says
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
In other words, we don’t have to look for battle before it comes for us. Satan will always look for ways to rob us from having peace by trying to devour us or anything that is ours. And the only way to secure our peace is to resist him when he comes (1 Peter 5:9). But some have resisted him and failed because they are not stronger. In other words, for you to successfully resist any battle, you must be stronger than that battle.
Luke 11:21–22 NKJV says
[21] When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. [22] But when a stronger than he comes upon him and overcomes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils.
So, for you to enjoy all-round peace, your preparation shouldn’t be to be strong alone, but to be stronger than Satan and than whatever battle is coming. By God’s grace and if Jesus tarries, next week we will consider “3 ways to prepare for battle”. But in the meantime, let it settle in your heart that anyone who truly wants to enjoy peace must prepare for battle.
