To enjoy peace, you must prepare for battle (part 3)

Yesterday, we saw from Luke 11:21 that becoming a strong man or woman is the the first step to overcome any battle. And that such strength that will defeat the enemy must be drawn from God. Today, we will consider, from the same scripture, the second step to overcome in any battle.

2) BE FULLY ARMED: Drawing strength from God and becoming fully armed goes hand in hand. In other words, as you draw strength from God, He weaponizes you at the same time because what you need to do to draw strength from Him is also the same things you need to do to be fully armed.

Ephesians 6:11 AMP says 

Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

Going through Ephesians 6:14-18, we see the armor which are:

1. Always speak the truth. Truth represent soldiers waist belt. That is, anytime a man tell lies, he automatically unarmed himself in the spirit and therefore becomes vulnerable for attack. But each time you tell the truth, it becomes a spiritual weapon which protect you and give you victory over battle. This is why Holy Spirit and God’s word encourages us to tell the truth at all times and in every situation.
2. Live Righteously: righteousness represent soldiers breastplate in the spirit realm. So as you live a righteous life, that becomes a breastplate in the spirit realm which protect you from satanic arrows. This means those who lives unrighteous life are very open to attack.
3. Live at peace with anyone such that it will be possible to preach the gospel to them: Peace represent soldiers sandal. As you live peaceably with everyone, your life becomes the gospel and so it will be easy to share the good news to them. But believers who don’t understand this and fail to live in peace will find it hard to preach the gospel to those they couldn’t live peaceably with and this could be a snare through which the devil may attack them.
4. Constantly work on your faith: Faith represent spiritual shield. The weaker your faith, the weaker your spiritual shield and vice versa. So, to overcome Spiritual battle, your faith must be strong. This is why we pray, study the word, attend fellowships, fast, etc. It is to keep our faith healthy and steady.
5. Protect your salvation: salvation represent spiritual helmet. Salvation can be lost if not guarded, so we must protect it with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12). Satan can come up with anything to make you loose your salvation. He can offer you job, money, needs, power, etc. to make you loose your salvation because he knows once your salvation is gone, you’re back in his grip and so he can do whatever he likes with you.
6. Study God’s word daily: God’s word represent spiritual sword. It is both your defensive and offensive weapon. The more you study God’s word, the sharper, stronger and longer your sword becomes. This is why believers who doesn’t study their bible are considered babies and are helpless because they nothing to fight with.

These are the spiritual armor you need to prepare for and win spiritual battle. Tomorrow by God’s grace, we will see the third thing we need to do to prepare for spiritual battle.
