In Mathew 7:7-8, our Lord Jesus Christ promised that whatever we desire and ask in prayers shall be granted us. However, as unfailing, eternal, true and honest these promises are, their fulfilment hangs on two factors and until the factors are met, answers to prayers are not guaranteed.
Tyese two factors are seen in Mark 10:35-40 where two disciples (James and John) came to meet Jesus to do whatever they wanted. And their request was that Jesus should grant them the honor of sitting on his right and left respectively in His kingdom.
Unfortunately, Jesus told them they didn’t know what they were asking for because what they wanted was hinged on two factors, and everyone coming to God must consider those factors when making request to God.
This means we must always check these two factors too before asking God for something. Questions like am I ready to pay the price for what am asking for? Am I ready to face the attack and hard work that comes with the promotion and breakthrough am praying for? Is what am asking for in line with God’s will for my life? Even though I have enough money to embark on that project, is it God’s will for me to do so?
Paying the price is our own part, but God’s will is God’s part. It is only when these two parts are fulfilled that answer to prayers come. It is my prayer that none of us would ask amiss in Jesus name.
