Our Lord Jesus in Mathew 6:25-33 show us that God knows all our needs. He didn’t deny that we need food, clothing and shelter. In fact, Jesus called them NEEDS and not wants. However, He didn’t ask us to go after them first. Instead, Jesus asked that we seek God’s kingdom first and every others needs will be added.
In other words, God’s kingdom contain every other things we need for living. And God’s kingdom has to comes before His will can be done. Once these happen, then evil are subdued and our needs are met with ease (Mathew 6:10-13). So God’s kingdom must be the topmost priority.
But why are many persons not taking this route? The answer is because “the route is simple but not easy”. Our Lord Jesus Himself testified to this truth in Matthew 7:13-14 NLT saying:
“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But THE GATEWAY TO LIFE IS VERY NARROW and THE ROAD IS DIFFICULT, and ONLY A FEW EVER FIND IT.
Note two things there, NARROW and DIFFICULT. The Gate to God’s kingdom is Narrow and so it will require that you drop many unwanted worldly luggage that are not fit for the kingdom before you can pass through. The road is difficult because it will demand and subject you to meet up with God’s standard before you eventually find it. This is why many don’t take this route.
But those who are willing to pay the price, willing to drop unwanted worldly luggage, and who are ready to go through the training required to meet up with the standard of the kingdom, only these will find it. My prayer is that you and I will find grace to give it all it takes to find the kingdom because until we do, life really has no meaning.
